Kolkata, April 23 (IANS) Legal action has been initiated against 350 people for Monday's blast that killed two people in West Bengal's Birbhum district, an Election Commission (EC) official said here Wednesday.
The blast took place in Kushumgaria village. Two people were killed when some explosives kept inside their house exploded.
According to the police, prima facie it appeared they were trying to make bombs.
The incident has come under the EC's scanner.
"Prosecution has been started against 350 people under the Explosive Substances Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code," Amit Roy Chowdhury, officer on special duty in the West Bengal chief electoral officer's office, told reporters here.
The police also seized a motorbike at the site of the explosion.
Meanwhile, Arpita Ghosh, Trinamool Congress candidate from Balurghat, has lodged a complaint with the poll panel alleging a Left Front activist has used inappropriate language against her on Facebook.
The district magistrate has replied to Ghosh, Chowdhury said.
Regarding complaints related to bike rallies in Barabani of Burdwan district, the commission has received a detailed report from the district magistrate.
In the matter, the investigating officer summoned the block development officer, which has also come under the commission's scanner.
