There will be a tough contest between the two heroines in the Hooghly Lok Sabha seat of West Bengal. On one hand, Bharatiya Janata Party has again fielded the sitting MP from Hooghly, Locket Chatterjee, while on the other hand, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has placed her bet on popular reality show 'Didi No. 1' anchor and actress Rachna Banerjee.
TMC and Bengali stars
Let us tell you that Trinamool Congress has left no stone unturned in using star power in its election campaign. At the Brigade rally in March, Rachna Banerjee was introduced as 'Doosri Didi' as a party member. Rachna Banerjee, who will use star power in the election fight, will further increase the glamor of TMC.
Who all were fielded in the 2019 elections?
TMC fielded actors Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan in the 2019 elections, Deepak Adhikari, popularly known as Dev, has been fielded again from Ghatal Lok Sabha constituency, Shatrughan Sinha contested from Asansol and Cricketer-turned-politician Yusuf Pathan is contesting from Berhampur against Congress's Adhir Ranjan Choudhary.
face to face in an election battle
The ruling TMC is trying to take advantage of BJP's lack of organizational strength in the region. The fact that all seven MLAs from the Hooghly Assembly constituency are from TMC also gives the ruling party an edge over the BJP. Both the actresses, who are facing each other in the electoral battle, have refrained from attacking each other, as they have good relations in their personal lives. Both of them have also shared screen space with each other in many Bengali films.
Locket Chatterjee, who has been critical of the Mamata Banerjee government, said the BJP's fight is not against TMC candidate Rachna Banerjee but against 'corruption'. He said, 'This fight is not against the candidate; It is against corruption. This is not a fight against Didi number one; This is against corruption number one. Mafia Raj... Sandeshkhali incident and employment are big issues.
If BJP comes to power...
Locket Chatterjee also said that if voted to power, the BJP government will set up industries here. He said, 'PM Modi has said that we should bring industries for employment of youth. We will set up industries here.
Earlier in April, Locket Chatterjee had accused ruling TMC supporters of attacking his vehicle. The incident occurred when she was attending a Kali Puja in Bansberia in Hooghly district. He shared a video on his.
