New Delhi, Jan 18 (IANS) A leading medical institution held a discussion here Sunday on how to improve laser procedures performed by dermatologists.

During the discussion, Coherent Medical Systems emphasised on the use of latest technologies like MediLite C6, RevLite and Reaction laser to treat skin problems.

MedLite C6 and RevLite are laser therapy procedures used to get rid of deep pigmentation, dark spots and acne scars.

According to dermatology experts, the technologies if properly used can even cure skin problems like melasma, in which brown to gray-brown patches occur on the face.

"Dermatologists in India have been performing MedLite C6 procedures, but RevLite and Reaction are the ones only a few do," said US-based dermatologist Aboneal Bakus.

Coherent Medical Systems managing director Dilip Meswani said MedLite's homogenous beam delivers energy evenly over the skin's surface, minimising epidermal injury and increasing patient satisfaction.

"This is the safest, fastest and easiest-to-use laser procedure," he said.

Israel-based clinician Inna Belenky said all the three treatments were safe, painless, proven and usually done in a series.

"The Reaction laser not only tightens and firms sagging skin, but it is effective in reducing the appearance of cellulite and can reduce inches around arms, waist or thighs," she said.

She said Reaction laser was the best when it come to skin-tightening.

"It is used effectively to tighten abdominal skin after pregnancy, or after weight loss. In fact, a contestant from the 'Biggest Loser' in Israel used it successfully to tighten his abdominal skin after extreme weight loss."
