New Delhi, Feb 7 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday met BJP leaders to review the Delhi assembly polls as well as the developing political situation in Bihar in view of Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's recommendation to dissolve the assembly.
Bharatiya Janata Party sources said those who attended the meeting included party president Amit Shah, union ministers Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Nitin Gadkari and party general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal.
The meeting is learnt to have discussed the BJP's prospects, as well as the voting pattern in Saturday's polls in the national capital. The BJP faced a tough contest from Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party. Most exit polls said the AAP will win.
Sources said the meeting discussed the developing political situation in Bihar which is also due for elections later this year.
Shah had earlier in the day held consultations with party leaders from Bihar over the situation in the state.
Manjhi Saturday recommended the state assembly's dissolution against the view of a majority of his cabinet colleagues even as his predecessor Nitish Kumar was elected the Janata-Dal United legislature party chief, signalling that he could be at the state's helm again.
Bihar minister Narendra Singh, who is considered close to Manjhi, said they would take support from the BJP to run the government if there was such a need.
BJP leaders have accused Nitish Kumar of doing injustice to a 'mahadalit'.
Sources said the BJP leadership was keeping a watch on the situation in Bihar and carefully weighing its options.
