The US Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Wednesday confirmed a case of monkeypox virus infection in an adult male with recent travel to Canada, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts reported. Monkeypox is a viral disease that occurs mainly in tropical rainforest regions of Central and West Africa. But now cases of monkeypox are also coming from different areas. This virus is now spreading its feet all over the world.

 

According to reports, preliminary testing was completed late Tuesday at the State Public Health Laboratory on the grounds of Jamaica, while confirmatory testing was completed at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

 

Currently, the Department of Public Health is working closely with the CDC, relevant local health boards, and the patient\'s health care providers to identify individuals who may have contacted the patient while she was infectious.

 

As per reports, the case poses no threat to the public, and the infected person is hospitalized and is in good condition.

 

\'Monkeypox is a rare but potentially serious viral illness that usually begins with a flu-like illness and swelling of the lymph nodes and develops as a rash on the face and body. Most infections last 2 to 4 weeks. Usually in this disease, symptoms like fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes are seen. The reason for the spread of this disease is the risk of spreading this disease by eating the meat of living or dead wild animals.

 

Monkeypox spreads through contact with infected

 

The virus is not easily spread between people, but through contact with body fluids, monkeypox sores, fluids or objects contaminated with the sores (clothing, bedding, etc.), or after prolonged contact Can be spread through respiratory droplets.

 

Previously, not a single case of monkeypox has been identified in the US in 2022, while in Texas and Maryland, one case has been reported in 2021 in people who had recently traveled to Nigeria.

 

While the United Kingdom has identified 9 cases of monkeypox as of early May 2022; The first case had recently gone to Nigeria. None of the other cases reported recent travel. UK health officials report that the most recent cases in the UK are among men who have incousre with men.

 

What are the symptoms of monkeypox?

 

Let us tell you that the monkeypox virus belongs to the orthopoxvirus family, which also includes smallpox. The cause of the spread of this disease can also be spread through small droplets when coming in contact with an infected person or sneezing. The duration of the disease is usually six to 13 days, but symptoms can also appear between 5 and 21 days. Symptoms of monkeypox can be mild or severe and usually go away on their own within 14 to 21 days. However, the wound may also be very itchy or painful.

 

How many cases of monkeypox were reported this year

 

Seven cases of monkeypox have been reported from the UK this year, all linked to travel to Nigeria. In the year 2021, two separate cases were also reported in the US, and that person had also returned from Nigeria.

 

Monkeypox Cases From September 2017 to April 30, 2022, 558 suspected cases have been reported in this West African country. This figure also includes 241 confirmed cases, and eight people have died from the disease so far.
