Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated 184 new Type-7 multi-storey flats built on Baba Kharak Singh Marg in New Delhi. The inauguration program took place at 10 am. During this, PM Modi also planted a vermilion plant.
This complex has been built keeping in mind the needs of MPs. Each flat has an area of 5,000 square feet, which also has space for an office and staff. The project is in line with GRIHA 3-star rating and the National Building Code. The buildings are earthquake-resistant and adapted for the disabled.
According to the information, this complex has been designed to be self-sufficient and is equipped with a full range of modern facilities to meet the functional needs of the Members of Parliament. Incorporating green technology, the project follows the standards of GRIHA 3-star rating and complies with the National Building Code (NBC) 2016.
These environmentally sustainable features are expected to contribute to energy conservation, renewable energy generation, and effective waste management. The use of advanced construction techniques (specifically, monolithic concrete with aluminium shuttering) made it possible to complete the project on time while ensuring structural durability. The complex is also Divyaangjan-friendly, reflecting a commitment to inclusive design.
The development of this project was necessitated by the lack of suitable accommodation for Members of Parliament. Due to the limited availability of land, there has been a consistent emphasis on vertical housing development with the objective of optimising land use and minimising maintenance costs.
Each residential unit has a carpet area of approximately 5,000 sq. ft., providing ample space for both residential and official functions. The inclusion of dedicated areas for offices, staff accommodation, and a community centre will help Members of Parliament discharge their responsibilities as public representatives.
All the buildings in the complex have been constructed according to modern structural design norms to make them earthquake-resistant. A comprehensive and robust security mechanism has been implemented to ensure the safety of all residents.
