Ghanshyam Nayak, best known for his role as Nattu Kaka in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, passed away at the age of 77. He was battling cancer. The news of Nattu Kaka's death has been confirmed by the show's producer Asit Modi. He wrote on social media – Our dear Nattu Kaka is no more with us. We will all miss him a lot - Asit Modi
Asit Modi told Dainik Bhaskar, “Ghanshyam Ji was associated with me since 2001. My show came on Sony TV - Yeh Duniya Hai Rangoli. Joined since then and was with me in all my serials. My relationship with him was very deep and family-oriented. His blessings used to be not only on me but on the entire unit of the serial. We all used to work together happily. He was a very sweet and kind person. We will all miss him very much. Ghanshyam Ji last worked with us on the sets 3-4 months back. Participated in the shooting of the episodes of Daman. Due to deteriorating health, he was not able to shoot. In this connection, he also had an operation. But he could not recover from cancer.
Last year doctors removed 8 lumps
Ghanshyam's son Vikas had told that about 3 months ago some spots were found in his neck, due to which the decision was taken to start his further treatment. He had an operation last year. 8 knots came out. After continuous treatment, his health had improved a lot.
Ghanshyam's life was full of struggle
In an interview given to Dainik Bhaskar a few months back, Nattu Kaka had told me – There was a time when I used to take only 3 rupees for working 24 hours. 10-15 years ago, the film industry did not have that much money, sometimes the fees were not even available. At that time, they used to ask their neighbors to borrow money for house rent and school fees. I feel my life has come to a standstill after doing 'Taarak Mehta...'. I started earning money. After that, I haven't looked back. Today I have two houses in Mumbai.
Nattu Kaka had also worked in films
Ghanshyam had worked not only in TV but also in many films. In 1960, he was first seen as a child artist in Ashok Kumar's film Masoom. After this, he also worked in many films including Beta, Tiranga, Aankhen, Ladla, Krantiveer, Andolan, Barsaat, Mafia, Chahat, Ishq, China Gate, Tere Naam, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and Khaki.
