NCP sacks minister as daughter gets BJP ticket

Mumbai, March 19 (IANS) The NCP sacked a senior Maharashtra cabinet minister after his daughter joined the BJP and was given a ticket from Nandurbar constituency, here Wednesday.

Medical education minister Vijaykumar Gavit was dropped from the cabinet Wednesday evening, Nationalist Congress Party executive president Jitendra Awhad confirmed to IANS.

Vijaykumar's daughter and medico Heena Wednesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of party chief Rajnath Singh and prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
