In the NEET paper leak case, 33 members of the solver gang from Purvanchal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Tripura, and Karnataka are on the radar of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). All are accused in a case registered at Sarnath police station of attempting fraud in NEET in 2021. The CBI will try to get to the bottom of the solver gang by interrogating these 33 accused in connection with the fraud that took place this time.

Julie Kumari of Patna, a BDS student of the Faculty of Dental Sciences of IMS BHU, was arrested from a center in Sarnath during the NEET exam on 12 September 2021. She was caught giving the exam in place of Hina Vishwas, a resident of Tripura.

After this, the names of the 48 accused came out. Dr. Sharad Singh Patel of Kailahat of Chunar police station in Mirzapur, an important mastermind, was arrested by the STF on 22 April 2024 on charges of leaking the paper of RO/ARO (Preliminary) Examination-2023.

Dr. Sharad and his colleague Ravi Atri from Haryana have been accused of the medical entrance exam scam earlier as well. Officials say that the CBI may soon question Dr. Sharad and Ravi with the permission of the court. After this, the 31 accused in 2021 will be questioned.

12 candidates are also accused in the case

12 candidates are also accused in the case registered at Sarnath police station on charges of attempting fraud in NEET. Out of these, only Hina Biswas of Tripura could be arrested and the other candidates could not be caught by the police.

21 arrested, gangster action against nine

In the investigation of the case registered at Sarnath police station, only 21 out of 48 accused could be arrested. Action was also taken against nine under the Gangster Act. Apart from this, among the remaining accused, the anticipatory bail application of some was approved, while the police do not know the whereabouts of some to date.

A close associate of Dr. Sharad will come under the purview of interrogation

The name of Dr. Sharad Singh Patel of the solver gang came to the fore in the year 2022 in an attempt to commit fraud in the NEET exam. On the application of the then-investigator of the case, the court issued an NBW against Dr. Sharad. During the same time, a person gave an application to the officers of the Commissionerate accusing the investigator of corruption, and the investigation was transferred to the Rohania police station. After this, the matter went into cold storage and Dr. Sharad roamed around in the open for about 14 months. It is being told that a close associate of Dr. Sharad will also come under the purview of interrogation.
