Earlier, the accused said that he would go to Mumbai to record his statement at Banda police station. At the same time, the accused was constantly receiving threats. Due to this, he wrote an application to the Mumbai Police Commissioner that he wanted to appear online and not in person.

In the initial investigation by Mumbai Police, it is known that the mobile number from which the call was made belonged to a person named Faizan from Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
