Kolkata, Jan 29 (IANS) The importance of vocational training in India has been stressed via a new medium - a comic book which is a collaborative effort between artists from India, France and Germany, a release said Thursday.
The comic magazine "Priya and Ashok in Europe" unveiled Wednesday is a unique form of storytelling using cartoons and graphic art form, said a release from the German consulate here.
The magazine is the outcome of a workshop where student artists and renowned cartoonists and graphic artists Sarnath Banerjee and Charbak Dipta from India, Joerg Reuter from Germany and Oliver Tallec from France participated.
"Vocational training is the main theme of the comic, a field where Germany and India are natural partners as emphasized by Chancellor Angela Merkel and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi," the consulate said in the release.
"The story unfolded in a rare blend of different styles and different interpretations of a single plot by different participants, revolving around Ashok and Priya and their journey from Kolkata to Europe and back to Kolkata and how their lives changed with the vocational training they had received to become skilled blue-collar workers," it added.
