Pahalgam Attack: India took five big decisions, canceled visas of Pakistani citizens; Attari border also closed

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in South Kashmir, many major decisions have been taken in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri gave this information while addressing a press conference. Misri said a meeting of the CCS was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister this evening. The CCS was briefed in detail about the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday, in which 25 Indians and a Nepali citizen were killed. Many others were injured. The CCS strongly condemned the attack and expressed its deep condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

 

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, understanding the seriousness of this terrorist attack, the CCS decided on the following measures-

The Indus Water Treaty of 1960 will be suspended with immediate effect until Pakistan credibly and irreversibly abandons its support for cross-border terrorism.

 

The Integrated Check Post Attari will be closed with immediate effect. Those who have crossed the border with valid means can return by that route before 1 May 2025.

 

Pakistani nationals will not be allowed to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme. Any SPES visas issued in the past to Pakistani nationals will be deemed cancelled. Any Pakistani national currently in India under a SPES visa has 48 hours to leave India.

 

Defence, military, naval, and air advisers at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi are declared persona non grata. They have a week to leave India.

 

India will recall its defense, naval, and air advisers from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. These posts in the respective high commissions will be deemed cancelled.

 

Misri said, "The CCS reviewed the overall security situation and directed all forces to maintain high alertness. It was resolved that the perpetrators of this attack would be brought to justice and their sponsors would be held accountable. Like the recent extradition of Tahawwur Rana, India will make continuous efforts to search for those who have perpetrated terrorist acts or conspired to make them possible.

 

CCS meeting lasted for two and a half hours

 

After the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) met at the Prime Minister's residence this evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired this meeting. Many top officials including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also attended the meeting. The meeting lasted for two and a half hours.

 

26 people lost their lives in terrorist attack

 

26 tourists were killed while 17 others were injured in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley on Tuesday. Tourists are injured. Terrorists opened fire targeting tourists. After the terrorist attack, the army, NIA, police, and other agencies have been on alert mode since Wednesday morning. Every inch is being monitored with drones and helicopters. Terrorists are also being searched. Jammu and Kashmir to Delhi are on high alert.

 

Two local terrorists involved in the attack in Baisaran Valley have been identified. Two Pakistani terrorists have also been identified. On Tuesday, terrorists fired with AK-47s for about 20 minutes. The names of the local terrorists are being told as Adil Ahmed Thakur and Asif Sheikh.
