Apart from him, uncapped fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was retained. After this, Mayank's captaincy was believed to be fixed.

Punjab has been placed in Group B in IPL 2022. In this, he will have to play two matches each with Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bangalore, and Gujarat. At the same time, one match will have to be played against Mumbai, Kolkata, Rajasthan, and Lucknow.
