Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi fiercely. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi made a tweet expressing opposition to this decision. He wrote that some people cannot understand patriotism and sacrifice. Rahul tweeted, 'It is very sad that the Amar Jyoti which used to burn for our brave soldiers will be extinguished today. Some people can't understand patriotism and sacrifice – never mind…we will burn the Amar Jawan Jyoti once again for our soldiers!'
Apart from this, Congress leader Manish Tiwari has attacked the BJP government. He said that whatever is happening is a matter of national mourning and is an attempt to rewrite history. The merger of Amar Jawan Jyoti with War Memorial means erasing history. The BJP has built the National War Memorial, which does not mean that they can extinguish the Amar Jawan Jyoti.
