New Delhi, May 11 (IANS) A notice has been issued to AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for his remarks against the Congress during a rally in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi, the Election Commission said Sunday.
"In a rally in Amethi dated May 2, Kejriwal had said 'it would be betraying the country if the people vote for the Congress Party'", said the notice issued by the poll pnal.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader has been asked to reply to the notice by Tuesday and explain the reason for the violation of the model code of conduct.
Polling in the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency, where Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi faced Bharatiya Janata Party's Smriti Irani and AAP's Kumar Vishwas, was held May 7.
Kejriwal is himself contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi constituency against BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress' Ajay Rai.
