Let us tell you that Manorama Khedkar's arrest has happened due to a recently viral video, in which she is shown waving a pistol while quarreling with local farmers over a land dispute in Mulshi village of Pune district.
There was outrage among the people after the footage surfaced. In the viral video, Manorama was seen having a heated argument with a farmer who was allegedly demanding to see documents of land in her name. As the tension escalated, she brandished a gun in a threatening manner but immediately hid it after noticing a camera recording the encounter.
Police registered a case under these sections.
After the video went viral, the police launched a search for Manorama and her husband Dilip Khedkar. The Paud police in Pune rural have registered a case against the Khedkar couple and five others under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS), including section 323 (dishonestly or fraudulently removing or concealing property) and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh said, Manorama Khedkar has been detained from Mahad in Raigad district and is being brought to Pune, where she will be arrested after completing the formalities.
Several teams were formed to trace Manorama, her husband, and five others accused in the case.
