BJP state president and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar has announced a protest from August 29. He said that party workers will protest on Thursday at Esplanade Y Channel. On August 30, the party's women's unit will surround the State Women's Commission office.

At the same time, in the foundation day program of Trinamool's student wing, CM Mamata Banerjee announced that the student union is going to protest at the gate of every college on August 30 demanding the death penalty for the criminals. Dharna and rallies will be organized on August 31, while on September 1, women including girl students will sit on a day-long dharna demanding the death penalty for the accused in the RG Kar Medical College case and amendment in the existing laws.
