Rahul Dravid to be coach of Team India on Sri Lanka tour, batting consultant in 2014

Former India captain and current National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief Rahul Dravid will be the coach of Team India for three ODIs and three T20 matches against Sri Lanka in July. Earlier, during his tour of England in 2014, he worked as a batting consultant. Speaking to news agency ANI, a BCCI official with knowledge of the incident confirmed this. He said that Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun, and Vikram Rathore would be in England along with the Test team. In such a situation, Dravid will take over the responsibility of the coach for the tour of Sri Lanka.

The official said, 'The coaching staff of Team India will be in England and it will be good that the young team is guided to Dravid. He has already worked with almost all India 'A' players. The youth feel good with them. This will add additional benefits. ' Before taking over as the head of NCA in 2019, Dravid had teamed up with youth at the under-19 level as well as the India 'A' team. He has played an integral role in building solid bench strength for the national team over the years.

The Indian team for the Sri Lanka series is expected to be selected at the end of the month and the boys will have to stay in quarantine before playing three ODIs and three T20 Internationals. The three ODIs will be played from July 13 to 19 and the T20 matches are expected to be played between July 22-27.

While the young Indian players will take on Sri Lanka in the limited-overs series, the Virat Kohli-led team will play a five-match Test series against England in England from 4 August. Before this, it will compete with New Zealand in the final of the World Test Championship in Southampton from 18 to 22 June.
