The much-awaited Reliance Jio IPO could finally hit the Indian primary market this month. Jio Platforms Limited, the digital services arm of Reliance Industries, is reportedly preparing to open its initial public offering for subscription from October 21 to October 23, 2026.

According to people familiar with the matter, the Jio IPO anchor book could open on October 19, while the shares are targeted to list on October 28. However, these dates are not yet officially confirmed by Jio Platforms and remain subject to market conditions and developments in financial markets.

The potential launch comes after the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) cleared Jio Platforms' IPO proposal in August. The company had filed its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) in June.

Jio IPO Date: Expected Timeline

If the reported schedule goes ahead, the Jio Platforms IPO could follow this timeline:

IPO Event                                            Expected Date

Anchor investor bidding                   October 19, 2026

IPO opens                                           October 21, 2026

IPO closes                                           October 23, 2026

Expected stock-market listing            October 28, 2026

Important: These dates are based on reports citing people familiar with the matter. The official SEBI-filed documents currently do not specify the final bid or listing dates.

Jio IPO Gets SEBI Approval

Jio Platforms received SEBI's approval for its proposed IPO on August 28, 2026, clearing a major regulatory hurdle for Reliance Industries' digital and telecom business.

According to the DRHP, the proposed issue consists of a fresh issue of up to 27 crore equity shares, with a face value of ₹10 each. The final issue price will be determined through the book-building process.

The IPO could raise approximately ₹37,700 crore, according to market reports. At that size, the issue would rank among the largest IPOs in India's capital markets.

How Big Could the Jio IPO Be?

The reported ₹37,700-crore issue size has made the Jio IPO one of the most closely watched public offerings in India.

The proposed issue would comprise up to 270 million fresh equity shares. Since the final issue price has not yet been determined, the exact amount that Jio Platforms will raise will depend on the eventual price discovered through the book-building process.

The proposed offering could therefore become one of India's largest IPOs if the reported ₹37,700-crore issue size materialises.

Where Will Jio IPO Money Be Used?

A significant portion of the IPO proceeds is earmarked for debt repayment.

According to the DRHP, Jio Platforms plans to use up to ₹27,500 crore from the net proceeds to fully or partly repay or prepay borrowings of its telecom subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL).

The debt-repayment component is a key feature of the proposed IPO because it could strengthen the balance sheet of Jio's telecom business following the public issue.

Jio IPO Investor Reservation

The DRHP provides for the standard broad investor-category allocation, with:

QIBs: Not more than 50% of the net issue

Retail investors: Not less than 35%

NIIs: Not less than 15%

The final allocation and other IPO details will be governed by the applicable regulations and the final offer documents.

Why Is the Jio IPO Important?

The Jio Platforms IPO is significant because it would provide public-market investors with an opportunity to participate directly in Reliance Industries' digital and telecom ecosystem.

Jio Platforms houses Reliance Jio Infocomm and other digital businesses. Its proposed listing has been closely watched by investors since Reliance Industries announced plans to bring its digital businesses to the public markets.

The potential ₹37,700-crore issue size also puts the offering among the largest IPOs being planned in India's capital markets.
