Dehradun, Jan 9 (IANS) Relief work began Friday in Pithoragarh and Chamoli towns of Uttarakhand which were hit by a snow storm Thursday, officials said Friday.
State government officials told IANS that district officials along with rescue teams equipped with satellite phones and other necessary equipments have been rushed to the storm hit area to ensure prompt relief.
Several houses were damaged and electricity wires were snapped in the snow storm that hit Pithoragarh town and the region.
Besides, 15 houses also were damaged in Irani area of Chamoli district.
The power supply to Pithoragarh and Chamoli was disrupted when several trees uprooted by the storm snapped power lines.
There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel by the government oil companies today
