Rice Export: India raises issues related to agriculture sector and rice export with UAE

India raised the problems of the agriculture sector and rice exporters prominently in its meeting with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). India-UAE Council President Member of Parliament and India UAE Joint Task Force S. Vikramjit Singh discussed several issues of bilateral cooperation during his meeting with Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Jeyudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the UAE.

 

Singh said bilateral trade is scaling new heights due to the two major agreements signed between the two countries. The talks between the two countries were following the conclusions of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CEPA) and the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

Singh raised the problem of Indian exporters rejecting rice, saying pesticides were present. He stressed the establishment of labs, rapid acceptance of India's pharma products, and standards acceptable to both countries. He also stressed reducing the minimum investment limit in the UAE. At present, it is 10 crore dirhams.

 

He also stressed early decision-making on India-UAE bilateral investments, streamlining work on joint ventures between the two countries. The UAE Minister expressed satisfaction over the trade situation with India. Also assured of investment in India.

 

The issue of cooperation with Punjab was also raised

s. Vikramjit Singh, as the representative of the Chief Minister of Punjab, discussed important issues between the state and the UAE. He discussed investment in infrastructure, Basmati export, agro-processing sector of Punjab.
