Riots in France after defeating Argentina: Thousands of fans turned violent in many cities, broke vehicles, set arson; also clashed with the police

France's fans went berserk after their defeat to Argentina in the Football World Cup final. Thousands of fans started riots in Paris, the capital of France. Vehicles were broken and arson was done. Apart from Paris, this violence spread to many other cities.

 

To control the situation, the police had to release tear gas. Thousands of policemen have been deployed in Paris. Violent incidents have also taken place in Lyon, Nice, police said. Fans also clashed with each other in Paris's famous Champs Elysees.

Lakhs of fans had gathered in public places in French cities to watch France's victory, the official said. However, he became unmanageable after the 4-2 loss to Argentina. Angry fans also clashed with the police. Many people have been detained. Water cannons were also used at many places to control the fans.
