Pant Set to Lead India's Middle Order in Sri Lanka Tests

Although Rishabh Pant is currently not part of India's white-ball squad, he continues to be one of the team's most important players in Test cricket.

The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter is expected to play a crucial role in India's batting lineup during the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

IPL 2026 Was a Tough Season for Pant

Pant endured a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign while captaining the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

The 28-year-old scored 312 runs in the tournament at an average of 28.36 with a strike rate of 138.05. Under his leadership, Lucknow Super Giants finished 10th in the points table, ending the season at the bottom of the standings.

Following a difficult IPL season, Pant will now look to regain top form in international cricket.

Set for International Return After June

Rishabh Pant last represented India in a Test match against Afghanistan in Mullanpur in June 2026. Since then, he has remained away from competitive international cricket.

The upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka is expected to mark his return to international action, making his preparation alongside MS Dhoni even more significant.

Fans Excited After Dhoni-Pant Reunion

The training session between MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant has generated widespread excitement among cricket fans. Dhoni has long been regarded as Pant's mentor, and the latest Ranchi gym session has once again highlighted the strong bond between the two wicketkeeper-batters.

With India's Sri Lanka Test series approaching, fans will be hoping Pant can convert this preparation into match-winning performances and make a strong comeback in the longest format of the game.
