
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will leave on Thursday on a two-day visit to the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. He will attend the Foreign Ministers' Conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) here. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and their Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto are also expected to attend the meeting. This will be the first time that Pakistan's Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto and S Jaishankar will be face to face.
It is believed that Jaishankar may also hold bilateral meetings with his Chinese and Russian counterparts of the member states of the SCO. Giving information about Jaishankar's visit, the Ministry of External Affairs said that in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the member countries of the SCO, talks will be held on the SCO Summit to be held in September. The SCO summit will be held in Samarkand from September 15-16. Prime Minister Narendra Modi can go to Uzbekistan to participate in this conference.
A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will visit Uzbekistan from July 28-29. He will be attending a meeting of the SCO Foreign Ministers' Council at the invitation of Vladimir Norov, Acting Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In this meeting, preparations for the meeting of the Council of Heads of State from September 15-16 in Samarkand will be discussed, the statement said.
