The political atmosphere is heated regarding the Sandeshkhali violence. The ruling party and the opposition are continuously accusing each other in this matter. Meanwhile, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari left for the violence-hit area. Five other party leaders are also included with him. Amidst all this, it is being told that BJP leaders and other party MLAs have been stopped by the police from going to Sandeshkhali. In protest against this, Suvendu has started protesting there. Let us tell you that yesterday the Calcutta High Court had permitted him to go to Sandeshkhali.
Before leaving for Sandeshkhali, Suvendu spoke to the media. During this, he said that yesterday the hearing lasted the whole day. All suggestions were discussed. After the court order, we left from there. Hopefully, we don't have to go to court for the third time. One or two senior officers called me and asked me to come to Sandeshkhali after 11 o'clock.
Vrinda Karat was also stopped
CPI(M) leader Vrinda Karat was also stopped by police on Tuesday from visiting Sandeshkhali in West Bengal's restive North 24 Parganas district. During this, Karat said that he was told by a police officer that his presence in Sandeshkhali would disturb the peace there. He told reporters in Dhamakhali that the atmosphere of peace was disturbed when women were called to local TMC offices and harassed, now this is a fight for justice.
The governor appealed to political parties and people to unite
West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose has asked all political parties and people to unite regarding the Sandeshkhali violence. He has appealed to organize a peace march in Sandeshkhali of North-24 to show solidarity with the victimized women.
In a message issued from the Raj Bhavan on Monday, the Governor said, "I appeal to the law-abiding citizens, leaders, and all political parties to unite in the peace march at Sandeshkhali. They should visit the places in the violence-hit area where Distrust and anarchy are being seen. Meet the suffering women there and tell them that the entire country is with them." He said that he is aware of the steps being taken by the state government to deal with the law and order situation in Sandeshkhali.
