Apple's next-generation iPhone lineup is expected to arrive in September, following the company's traditional launch cycle. While Apple has not officially confirmed the launch date, specifications or pricing, several reports have pointed to major upgrades for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The reported improvements range from a next-generation processor and redesigned Dynamic Island to camera, display, connectivity and battery enhancements. However, these upgrades could also come with a higher price tag.

1. New A20 Pro Chip Could Deliver a Major Performance Boost
One of the biggest expected upgrades is Apple's next-generation A20 Pro chipset.
Reports suggest that the chip could be manufactured using TSMC's 2nm process technology. A move to a smaller manufacturing process could potentially improve performance and power efficiency, although Apple's final specifications have not yet been announced.
The new processor could also play an important role in powering Apple's on-device AI capabilities.
2. Smaller Dynamic Island
Apple could further reduce the size of the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro.
Some reports suggest that the Dynamic Island could become approximately 35% smaller, although it is not expected to disappear completely.
A smaller cutout could provide users with a cleaner display experience while allowing Apple to retain the hardware required for Face ID and the front-facing camera system.
3. Display and Battery Upgrades
The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to retain a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could continue with a 6.9-inch screen.
However, Apple may introduce upgraded LTPO+ display technology, potentially offering improved brightness and power efficiency.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is also rumoured to feature a larger battery, which could complement the efficiency improvements expected from the new processor and display.
4. Variable Aperture Camera Could Be a Major Change
Camera technology could receive one of the most interesting upgrades.
The iPhone 18 Pro is reportedly expected to retain a 48MP primary camera, but Apple could add a variable aperture system.
Unlike a fixed-aperture camera, a variable aperture would allow the amount of light entering the lens to be adjusted. This could provide greater flexibility in different lighting conditions and offer more control over depth of field.
If introduced, the technology could become one of the key photography upgrades in the iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
5. New C2 Modem Could Improve Connectivity and Efficiency
Apple is also reportedly preparing its C2 modem for the upcoming Pro models.
The new modem could improve cellular connectivity while potentially reducing power consumption. Apple may also continue expanding and improving satellite connectivity features.
However, the exact capabilities of the C2 modem will only become clear once Apple officially announces the device.
iPhone 18 Pro Expected Price: Could It Get More Expensive?
The expected upgrades could come with a higher price.
According to reports, the iPhone 18 Pro could start at around ₹1,39,900, which would represent an increase of approximately ₹5,000 over the reported ₹1,34,900 starting price of the iPhone 17 Pro.
Other reports have suggested that the price increase could be between ₹10,000 and ₹20,000, depending on the model and configuration.

At the same time, a potential price increase could make the new generation more expensive for Indian buyers.
