Shami's claim for the World Cup T20 team: 17 crores Rahul walked on the golden duck, took 3 wickets in the powerplay for the first time

Mohammed Shami, who is being said to be dropped from Team India's possible T20 team, wreaked havoc with his bowling in his first match of the IPL on Monday night. Shami did not stop even after settling 17 crore KL Rahul for 0 on the first ball of the match. In his entire career, Shami had never taken 3 wickets in the power play, but he also did it in this match.

Interestingly, questions are constantly being raised about Shami's fitness and now he is being called a player of the past. Playing for Gujarat Titans, Shami gave a befitting reply to his critics by taking 3 wickets in the power play against Lucknow.

The mirror showed to selectors

Didn't get a chance to play in the team after the defeat in the T20 World Cup

Shami was not selected in Team India for any limited-overs series since Team India's humiliating defeat in the T20 World Cup. Shami was rested for the home series against West Indies, but he was not made a part of the team in the Sri Lanka series.

BCCI sources while talking to TOI said that not every bowler can be fed in every format. Jasprit Bumrah is the only bowler who fits in every format. The way Wriddhiman Saha was informed by coach Rahul Dravid about his exclusion from the Test team, now there is talk of Shami being treated in the same way concerning the ODI and T20 team.

Could play for Team India in only 17 T20 matches

In his career span of 9 years, Shami has played only 17 T20 Internationals. Targeting Shami's fitness, the flurry of removing him from the team is intensifying these days. It is also being said that instead of focusing only on the fast bowlers, we want to include all-rounders in the team.

Shami is being compared to Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar. Both of them are all-rounders, but Shami is not able to bat so well. On this pretext also, Shami is being targeted.

Now in this match of IPL, Mohammed Shami has proved by bowling tremendously that it is going to be difficult to keep him away from white-ball cricket in the coming times. If during the next few matches of the IPL, Shami similarly takes wickets in the opening overs of the powerplay, then he can be successful in securing his place in the team in the T20 World Cup to be held later this year.
