The fourth match of the five-match Test series is being played between India and England at Old Trafford in Manchester. Team India has scored 264 runs for four wickets by the end of the first day's play. Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja are at the crease with 19-19 runs. There has been a partnership of 29 runs between the two. Captain Shubman Gill once again failed in this test. After a record-breaking performance in the first two matches, runs have stopped coming from his bat. Gill had scored close to 600 runs in the series in Headingley and Edgbaston combined, but runs have not come from his bat in Lord's and now Manchester. Including both innings of Lord's and one innings of Old Trafford, he has been able to score 34 runs in a total of three innings. Earlier, he had scored 585 runs in four innings.

Gill was dismissed by England captain Ben Stokes in the first innings of the Manchester Test. Gill could score 12 runs in 23 balls. Earlier, he scored 16 runs in the first innings of Lord's and six runs in the second innings. Due to this, Team India had to face defeat. At the same time, he scored 147 runs in the first innings of the first Test at Headingley, while he scored eight runs in the second innings. After this, he created history in Birmingham. Gill scored 269 runs in the first innings and 161 runs in the second innings. India created history by winning the Test in Birmingham. Team India became the first Asian team to win a Test at this place.

After this, Gill's bat lost its edge and India had to face defeat at Lord's. Gill was out LBW by Stokes. In this series, Gill has been the victim of spinners twice and fast bowlers five times so far. If India has to win the Test and make a comeback in the series, then Gill needs to score runs. Stokes has so far hunted down the captains of six opposition teams. While being the captain in Tests, three of them have been Indian captains. Before Gill, he had also hunted West Indies captain Jason Holder, former Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam, former Indian captain Rohit Sharma, and New Zealand captain Tom Latham.

Talking about India's first innings, the first day's play was ended prematurely due to poor light. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul gave Team India a good start. Both shared an opening partnership of 94 runs. Yashasvi scored 58 runs in 107 balls with the help of 10 fours and a six. At the same time, Rahul missed the half-century. He was dismissed after scoring 46 runs in 98 balls with the help of four fours. Sai Sudarshan, who replaced Karun Nair in the team, played an innings of 61 runs in 151 balls with the help of seven fours. At the same time, Rishabh Pant's injury was the biggest setback. The ball hit his leg and he looked in a lot of pain. After this, he was taken for a scan. At the time of retiring hurt, he was batting on 37 runs in 48 balls with the help of two fours and a six.
