New Delhi, Jan 29 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi Thursday expressed her condolence to bereaved family of Colonel Munindra Nath Rai, who died fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir Jan 27.
In a letter to Rai's wife, Gandhi said: "I share your grief with all my heart - I know what it is to lose beloved husband to a terrorist attack and for children to be robbed of the love and guidance of their father at a young age."
"He has upheld the finest and most honourable traditions of our armed forces, and brought glory to the Indian Army and his regiment," she said.
The army officer, who received the "Yudh Sewa" medal Jan 26 for his gallantry in fighting militants, is survived by his wife and three children.
