Bhubaneswar, Jan 29 (IANS) Tension is prevailing at a steel plant in Odisha after private security guards fired at three minors Thursday, prompting authorities to launch a probe into the incident.
Soon after the firing took place in Bhusan steel plant in Dhenkanal district, villagers locked the main gate of the plant and demanded action against the culprits and compensation. However, normalcy returned after intervention of police.
Two injured boys were admitted to a private hospital while one was shifted to a government hospital at Angul, said police.
"Following complaints by locals that some private security guards have fired at three people, we have detained three people. Investigation is going on," said Meramundali police station chief Jitendra Kumar Sahu.
He said the reason behind the shooting is yet to be ascertained.
Dhenkanal district collector Roopa Roshan Sahoo said she has ordered an inquiry into whether the guards have the requisite licence and the circumstances that led to firing.
