Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday said on the border deadlock with China, the events in East Ladakh last year have severely affected the relations of the two countries and the relationship can be further enhanced only when they are of mutual respect, sensitivity, Be based on maturity like common interest. Addressing the 13th All India Conference on Chinese Studies digitally, Jaishankar said, "The events in the year 2020 have increased the unexpected pressure on our relations." Regarding the East Ladakh deadlock, he said that East Ladakh The events in last year have severely affected the relations between the two countries.
Jaishankar said that the agreements that have been reached should be fully adhered to. He said that the Line of Actual Control should be strictly followed and respected. The Foreign Minister made it clear that no unilateral attempt to change the status quo is acceptable.
The Foreign Minister said that this (the events in Ladakh) not only disrespected the commitment to reduce the number of soldiers but also demonstrated a desire to break the peace. Jaishankar said that we still have not found any credible explanation for the change in Chinese attitude and the deployment of a large number of troops in border areas.
On relations with China, he said that relations can be further enhanced only when they are based on maturity like mutual respect and sensitivity, and mutual interest. The Foreign Minister said that peace in the border areas is the basis for the complete development of relations with China and if there is any interference in it, it will undoubtedly affect the rest of the relationship.
He said, "The issue before us is what the Chinese stand wants to indicate, how it moves forward and what are its implications for future relations". Expecting to keep going normally is not real. Jaishankar said that if relations are to be taken in the direction of steady and progress, then the policies received during the last three decades will have to be taken care of.
