Chennai, March 25 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who also holds the finance portfolio, on Wednesday announced the setting up of a data analytics unit to improve better service delivery.
Presenting the state's budget for the fiscal 2015-15, Panneerselvam said the government proposes to establish a data analytics unit as a collaboration between the Department of Economics and Statistics and the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency.
The proposed unit would analyse, in real time, the large volume of data available with the government to enable improved policy-making for better service delivery, the chief minister said.
"Tamil Nadu will be the first State to establish such a unit," Panneerselvam said.
According to the chief minister, 32 projects with an outlay of Rs.84.85 crore have been approved by the state planning commission under the Tamil Nadu Innovation Initiatives programme.
