Tamil Nadu welcomes New Year

Chennai, Jan 1 (IANS) Tamil Nadu welcomed the New Year Thursday with prayers and revelry as people thronged temples, beaches and hotels and wished each other at midnight.

People also burst crackers at midnight to welcome the New Year.

Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah, DMK president M. Karunanidhi, PMK leader S. Ramadoss and others greeted people on New Year's eve.

Around 60 people were injured here in various two-wheeler related accidents during New Year's eve revelry Wednesday.
