Tauktae Hurricane: 23 people killed in 5 states including Gujarat, Maharashtra; NDRF said - the crisis has passed

After scaring Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Goa, cyclonic storm Tauktae reached Gujarat last night in the Arabian Sea. As a result of this, many districts of the state received heavy rain and strong winds on Monday night and Tuesday as well. Trees were uprooted and houses fell in many places. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) DG SN Pradhan says that the worst phase of the storm has passed. By this evening it will go into depression.

 

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that 3 people have died in the state due to the storm. 40,000 trees have fallen due to strong winds and 16,500 kutcha houses have been damaged.

 

23 people have died in 5 states in 3 days from Tauktae. Maharashtra has the highest number of 11 deaths among them. These include 4 from Raigad district, 2-2 from Ratnagiri and Thane, 1-1 from Sindhudurg and Dhule districts. Apart from this, one person has died in the Mira Road area of ​​Mumbai. More than 6 thousand 349 villages in Maharashtra have been affected by the storm. Earlier on Monday and Sunday, 5 people died in different districts of Karnataka due to the storm. At the same time, 2-2 people died in Goa and Tamil Nadu.

 

495 people stranded in 4 ships in the Arabian Sea

4 ships have been stranded in the seashore of Mumbai after the storm Tauktae. 710 people are stranded on these ships and out of these, 215 people have been rescued so far. 495 are still stranded. Rescue mission continues on Barge P-305 at Heera Fields, 175 km from Mumbai. It had a maximum ridership of 273 people, out of which 177 have been rescued.

 

In Junagadh, it started raining with strong winds since midnight on Monday. Due to this, trees fell in many areas of the city. Apart from this, the hoarding fell on the City Ride bus in the Gandhi Chowk area of ​​the city. Due to this, the road from Gandhi Chowk to the railway station was closed. When the Municipal Corporation came to know about the incident, the hoarding was removed. It is a matter of relief that no casualties were reported in this incident.

 

Is the current state of the storm?

Cyclonic storm Tauktae woke up in the Arabian Sea has now moved from Gujarat towards Rajasthan. Due to this cyclone, the entire state is cloudy today. Light rain started in many areas of Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur, and Kota divisions on Tuesday morning. Because of the warning of heavy rains in Dungarpur, Banswara, the administration has appealed to the villagers not to leave the house. The administration has prepared generators and oxygen backups in all the hospitals because of the possibility of power failure.

 

Railways canceled many trains

The Western Railway has canceled several trains as a precautionary measure due to the Tauktae Hurricane. Today 09116 Bhuj-Dadar, 09456 Bhuj-Bandra, 02946 Okha-Mumbai Central, 09204 Porbandar-Secunderabad, 02941 Bhavnagar-Asansol, 06505 Gandhidham-KSR Bangalore trains will be canceled. On May 19, 08402 Okha-Puri, 01191 Bhuj-Pune, 09203 Secunderabad-Porbandar, 02946 Okha-Mumbai will remain canceled.

 

Cyclone effect will also be seen in Delhi

Due to tauktae, due to western disturbances, Delhi may receive heavy rains in the next 2 days. Due to the effect of the winds due to cyclones, western UP and Haryana may also get rain in the next 2 days.

At present, tauktae is passing that the Meteorological Department has told that there are signs of a new storm developing near Andaman. It will move towards the east coast on 23 May. The situation will be clear in a day or two about its path and direction.
