The Brigade headquarters of 'Uri' in the northern area of Kashmir was attacked by terrorists in 2016. Pakistan-backed terrorist organization 'Lashkar-e-Taiba' had claimed responsibility for that attack. India responded to that attack with a 'surgical strike' across the Line of Control. Military commando squad had destroyed the terrorist launching pad of Pakistan. Now a big search operation is going on in the Uri sector for the last 72 hours. Phones have been jammed. Internet is also down. Sources say that the terrorists wanted to repeat '2016' in 'Uri' again. About six terrorists are said to be involved in the 'infiltration' from Pakistan. Army commandos have also opened fire on the terrorists. However, the number of terrorists has not been officially disclosed by the army yet.

In 2016, terrorists carried out a suicide attack on the brigade headquarters in the Uri sector on 18 September. Sources say that this time also the terrorists have tried to infiltrate keeping in mind the date of '18 September'. The terrorists were detected on Saturday night. The army has cordoned off the entire area and started the search operation. General Officer Commanding of 15 Corps Lt Gen DP Pandey said that the search operation is going on in Uri. There has been an infiltration attempt. Search is on for terrorists. It is being ascertained whether all the terrorists have gone back across the border or any of their associates are hiding on the Indian border. According to sources, there has been an exchange of fire between the terrorists and the army. It is being said that a soldier was injured, but this has not been confirmed by the army. The terrorists were not only carrying weapons like pistols or AK 47s, but they were also carrying rocket launchers.

Starting a search operation by disrupting mobile phone and internet services in the Kashmir Valley has big implications. Captain Anil Gaur (Retd), a security expert, says, "In the past, the security forces team used to attack a hideout where terrorists were hiding and then the terrorists' aides tried to obstruct the 'operation' there. Stones have been thrown at the security forces during several major operations in the Valley. Switching off mobile phones and the internet during such search operations does not give a chance to the local handlers of terrorists, including underground and overground workers, to activate. The contact between the terrorists and their helpers is lost.

Although Pakistan has installed such mobile towers on the border in its border, through which the SIM card there runs into the Indian border. Terrorists who infiltrate from Pakistan side talk to their masters through the same SIM card. If a jammer is installed on the Indian side, they are unable to communicate with the local handler. They can talk in Pakistan, but can't call anyone in the Valley. This is an essential step for the success of the operation. Every corner of Uri is being searched by the army. According to sources, four terrorists have entered the Pakistan border after firing. Search is on for the remaining two terrorists. The kind of equipment the terrorists were equipped with, it can be inferred that they wanted to carry out a major incident.
