The big news is coming out about the Indian cricket team. Team India's head coach Ravi Shastri can soon leave Team India's side. Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar and batting coach Vikram Rathor may part ways from Team India after the T20 World Cup to be held in October and November this year. The major reason for this is believed to be Team India's failure to win the ICC title. Team India could not win a single ICC title under Shastri's coach.
Shastri has also informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about this. The tenure of the entire coaching staff including Shastri is also ending in November. According to the Indian Express report, BCCI wants to appoint new coaching staff after the T20 World Cup, so that Indian cricket can be taken to new heights.
Shastri's contract expires after T20 World Cup
Ravi Shastri first joined Team India in the year 2014 as a director. His contract was till 2016. Shastri was then appointed coach for a year. He became the full-time coach of Team India in 2017 after Anil Kumble. At that time Shastri's tenure was till the 2019 ODI World Cup. After a good performance in 2019, Shastri's contract was extended till the 2020 T20 World Cup.
Last year the T20 World Cup could not be held due to Corona, but Shastri's tenure will end after the T20 World Cup is to be held this year. According to media reports, National Cricket Academy (NCA) director Rahul Dravid can be appointed as the new head coach of the team.
Could never win ICC title under Shastri
It was under Shastri's training that India defeated Australia in the Test series at his home. After this, the final of the World Test Championship was also played last month. However, under the coaching of Shastri, Sridhar, and Vikram, Team India never won the ICC title. The Indian team got defeated in the 2019 World Cup. After this, the team also had to face defeat in the final of the World Test Championship.
Dravid may enter
Former captain Rahul Dravid can be made the new head coach of the Indian team. Dravid brought a lot of success to India-A and India's Under-19 cricket team in his coaching. Recently, against Sri Lanka, Rahul Dravid was also seen in the role of head coach with the team. Team India won the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Rahul Dravid's contract as NCA chief has also expired. The Board has invited applications for the post of NCA Chief. Dravid was appointed as the NCA chief in July 2019. If Dravid does not reapply for the post of NCA chief, his claim for the position of Team India's coach will certainly be strengthened.
