The decision of 16 gold medals in Commonwealth Games today: 9 matches of India, will take on PAK in badminton at 6.30 pm; Australia matches in women's cricket

After the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, the matches will start on the first day on Friday. 16 gold will be at stake on the first day of the biggest sports multi-event of the year going on in Birmingham. Most of these 7 gold are from swimming. Players will compete for 6 gold in track cycling, 2 in triathlon, and 1 gold in artistic gymnastics.

 

Apart from these, league matches of sports like badminton, boxing, women's cricket, hockey, lawn balls, table tennis, netball, and squash will be played.

 

More than 5 thousand players from 72 countries are participating in these 11-day games, in which there will be 280 events in 20 sports. India's 213-member team will participate. It has 110 men's and 103 women's players.

 

Indian women's hockey team will play against Ghana

 

The Indian team will face Ghana in the Pool A match of Women's Hockey. The Indian team, which finished fourth in the Tokyo Olympics, will be a contender for victory in this match by a big margin. Teams from hosts England, Canada, and Wales are also present in India's group. Group B includes teams from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Scotland, and Kenya. Two teams each from both groups will advance to the semi-finals.

 

India will face Pakistan in the badminton mixed team event

 

India will open their campaign against Pakistan in the badminton mixed team event. A total of five matches will be played between the two teams. These five matches include one match each of men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. In the badminton mixed team event, 16 teams are divided into four groups. India, Pakistan, Australia, and Sri Lanka are in Group A. The Indian team is expected to reach the quarter-finals by topping this group.

 

Cricket returns after 24 years, and Australia's challenge in front of the Indian women's team

 

Cricket is returning to this mega event for the first time since the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. This time women's T20 cricket has been included. The first match of the Indian team is against Australia. The team of World Champion Australia is considered to be a contender for victory in this match.
