Significantly, next year, assembly elections are to be held in five states including Uttar Pradesh. Because of this also the winter session is very important. The session may start on November 29 and end around December 23. The winter session is very important for both the government and the opposition. Right now the opposition has issues like inflation, increase in fuel prices, increase in the prices of edible oil, recent attacks on civilians in Kashmir, and ongoing protests by farmer groups, through which it will prepare to surround the government in Parliament. On the other hand, the government can give immediate relief to the general public by taking some decisions in this session before the elections.
Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha sessions will be held simultaneously but members will have to follow physical distancing norms. The first few sessions may be held at different times so that there is no movement of people in the Parliament premises.
