Traders' organization Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said that during the Diwali season, vendors across the country sold goods worth 72 thousand crores. CAT said that this has happened due to the complete boycott of Chinese goods. Due to this, China has been hurt by a huge trade deficit of 40 thousand crores.

According to CAIT, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for Local for Vocal, traders have caused an economic loss of 40 thousand crores to China. This figure proved that the people of India have outperformed both Corona and China in terms of the purchase and sale of goods used in festivals.

Data were taken from 20 cities

According to a CAT release, the data was collected from 20 cities by the merchant organization. They are- Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Nagpur, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi, Bhopal, Lucknow, Kanpur, Noida, Jammu, Ahmedabad, Surat, Cochin, Jaipur, Chandigarh. CAIT National President BC Bhartia and National General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal claimed that the figure of business across the country could have increased further if a strong and effective firecracker policy was implemented in Delhi NCR.

The CAIT said that despite the clear directions of the High Court, due to the negligence of the government officials, small, big, and micro-scale firecracker manufacturers and sellers have suffered a business loss of about 10 thousand crore rupees.

These items sold well

According to data collected from 20 cities across the country, FMCG products, consumer goods, toys, electrical appliances and goods, electronic equipment and accessories, kitchen items, gift items, sweets-snacks, household items, utensils, made in India, Gold and jewelry, shoes, watches, furniture, clothing, fashion apparel, textiles, home decor items, Diwali puja wares including earthen lamps, decorative items, handicraft items, garments, house-door auspicious, The sale of many festive season items including Om, the feet of Goddess Lakshmi was very good.

This year, for the first time, on Diwali, an effort was made to directly connect a large number of artisans, sculptors, handicraft workers, and especially potters to the market. Due to this not only the sales of their products increased but they also got huge profits. The country's move towards local for vocal and self-reliant India has also given a strong message to China that it should not consider India as a dumping yard. Following CAIT's call, traders across the country have pledged to reduce imports of less than Rs 1 lakh crore from China by December 2021.
