Two Madhya Pradesh policemen killed in shooting

Tikamgarh (Madhya Pradesh), Jan 5 (IANS) Two police officials were killed in a firing incident Monday in Madhya Pradesh's Tikamgarh district.

Police suspect the incident took place when the Prithvipur police station's chief Pramod Chaturvedi shot dead a junior officer T.S. Malik and the killed himself.

The incident came to light after shots were heard at the office of a sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP).

Inspector General of Police Pankaj Srivastav told media that the shooting took place in the afternoon. He said he was told that Chaturvedi first fired at Malik on the forehead and then shot himself dead.

The reason behind the shooting was not yet clear and the incident was being probed, officials said.
