After several incidents of attacks on Hindu temples in Bangladesh, two big ministers of the country have given statements on two separate occasions. Home Minister Asadduzman Khan on Sunday said that the attacks on pandals during Durga Puja were pre-planned and were done as part of a conspiracy. At the same time, Minister of State for Information Murad Hassan said that Islam is not the religion of the country.

Asadduzman Khan said about the attack on the temples that they aim to destroy the communal harmony in Bangladesh. People were first attacked at a Hindu temple in Comilla on Wednesday. After this, cases were registered against hundreds of known and unknown people. Asked why the Comilla attack took place, the minister said that as soon as we get all the evidence, we will make it public and punish all the culprits, Dhaka Tribune reported.

Miscreants burnt 65 Hindu houses in Bangladesh

Violent incidents against Hindus are increasing in Bangladesh. After the deadly attack on Hindu temples and devotees, now the case of setting fire to the houses of Hindus has come to the fore. Some people set houses of the Hindu community on fire over a social media post in Peerganj Upazila in Rangpur village here. In this, 20 houses were completely burnt to ashes. The incident was carried out on Sunday evening in the Majhipara area of Ramnathpur union in Peerganj.

Fire over Facebook post

Union council chairman Mohammad Sadiqul Islam said that the miscreants had set fire to 65 houses. The arsonists were members of the local organization Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir. According to the police, a Hindu man made a derogatory post about religion on Facebook, following which the riots broke out.

Bangladesh is a secular nation, Islam is not a national religion

At the same time, Bangladesh's Minister of State for Information Murad Hassan said that Bangladesh is a secular nation and we will return to the 1972 constitution made by President Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangladesh can never be a haven for religious fundamentalists. However, he did not make this statement in the context of the attack on the temples.

Speaking at the Institute of Engineers on the 57th birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's youngest son Sheikh Rasal, he said, "I don't think Islam is the religion of our country. The blood of freedom fighters is flowing in our veins. Will have to return to the Constitution of India. I will raise this issue in Parliament. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, this bill will be passed in Parliament."
