British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is coming to India after a long wait. Johnson, who is coming here this week, will talk to India about further strengthening defense ties.
He will meet the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday.
During this, their talks will be on increasing the defense ties and mutual trade between the two countries.
This will be Johnson's first important visit to India after becoming PM. He had to come here earlier but his journey was postponed due to Kovid.
After Russia attacked Ukraine, Western countries imposed sanctions on Russia. At the same time, they are pressuring India to reduce its dependence on Russian weapons. Britain wants the same.
British Foreign Minister Liz Truss visited India last month.
She wanted India to impose strict sanctions on Russia. At the same time, he aimed to make closer with India in the field of trade, defense, energy, and food security.
But India has not directly criticized Russia's attack on Ukraine. He also did not participate in voting against Russia in the United Nations.
Johnson will visit Gujarat on Thursday during his India visit.
There he can announce many important investments in India and Britain. Along with this, a new partnership between both countries can also be announced in the science, technology, and health sectors.
strategic partnership
Before visiting India, Johnson said, "The world's peace and prosperity have been threatened by authoritarian governments. Therefore the world's democracies and friendly countries must remain with each other."
He said, "India is a major economic power and the world's largest democracy. It is also a very important strategic partner of Britain in these uncertain times."
Johnson further said, "My visit to India will be related to matters of importance to both India and Britain. It will be related to matters like creating jobs to economic growth, energy security, and defense."
Johnson's visit to India was canceled last year. This trip was canceled after India's name was added to Britain's Red List.
This meant that it was necessary for those returning after traveling to India to stay in the hotel quarantine for ten days.
At that time Johnson had said that he would like to talk to PM Narendra Modi online instead of traveling to India.
His visit to India was also canceled in January 2021. At that time this trip was canceled due to the lockdown in Britain.
