Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said that those who are still praising Aurangzeb are 'traitors'. He said that Aurangzeb had tried to capture the state and committed many atrocities. On the other hand, Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a 'divine power', who is a symbol of valor, sacrifice and the spirit of Hindutva. Shinde said this on the occasion of 'Shiv Jayanti' on Monday night.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue unveiled
Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde unveiled the statue of Shivaji Maharaj riding a horse at Gharda Chowk in the Dombivali area of Thane district. During this, in his address, Shinde said that this statue had been installed to honor the legacy of the Maratha king, his courage, and his leadership. The issue of removing Aurangzeb's tomb is hot in Maharashtra these days and right-wing organizations are demanding the removal of the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb located in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar district. Violence broke out in Nagpur on Monday night over this, in which many people were injured.
'Aurangzeb's fans are traitors'
Shinde said that Shivaji Maharaj was not only a symbol of Hindutva and Indian pride, but was also the 'inventor of democracy'. The Shiv Sena leader also condemned Aurangzeb's atrocities against Maharashtra, especially the brutal murder of Shivaji Maharaj's son Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. He said that 'Aurangzeb came to capture Maharashtra, but he had to face the divine power of Shivaji Maharaj. Those who still praise him are nothing but traitors. Chhatrapati Shivaji is the pride of undivided India and the roar of Hindutva. Shivaji Maharaj was a visionary leader, a man of the era, a promoter of justice, and a king of the common people.'
The Deputy Chief Minister appealed to the people to adopt at least one quality of Shivaji Maharaj in their lives and said that this would be a true tribute to the great Maratha ruler. He said that this statue will constantly remind us of the glorious history of Maharashtra and will inspire the youth and future generations to adopt the values of bravery and governance of Shivaji Maharaj. Shinde also announced to rename Gharda Chowk as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk.
