In the cabinet meeting, strict amendments have been made to the conversion law, under which from now on, forced conversion will be a cognizable offense. Under this, a provision for punishment has also been made. In the new law, there is a provision of a punishment of 10 years for forcibly converting. After this, cases like conversion and 'love jihad' will be banned.
Strict law against forced conversion
29 proposals were brought in the cabinet meeting of the Uttarakhand government held on Wednesday. Under which the conversion law in Uttarakhand has now been made more strict than in Uttar Pradesh. Forced conversion has been made a cognizable offense in the state. Under this, there will be a provision of punishment up to a maximum of 10 years. This has been approved in the cabinet. Soon this bill will be brought to the assembly.
Apart from this, the cabinet also confirmed that the Nainital High Court will be shifted to Haldwani. There was a demand for this for a long time. Apart from this, many other important issues have been approved in the Dhami cabinet.
