Vijay Diwas celebrations, a symbol of India's historic victory in the 1971 war against Pakistan, are being celebrated today. On Monday, Vijay Diwas celebrations were held at Fort William, the Eastern Command of the Indian Army in Kolkata. During this, officers of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force paid tribute to the martyred soldiers at the Vijay Smarak. Bangladesh soldiers also participated in this program. At the same time, the country's President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh saluted the martyred soldiers.

President Draupadi Murmu wrote on X that on Vijay Diwas, I pay tribute to those brave soldiers who showed indomitable courage in the 1971 war and brought victory to India. The nation remembers the supreme sacrifice of our heroes. Their stories inspire every Indian and will remain a source of national pride.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the heroes of India's victory on Vijay Diwas. PM Modi wrote on X that today on Vijay Diwas, we honor the courage and sacrifice of those brave soldiers who contributed to India's historic victory in 1971. Their selfless dedication and unwavering resolve protected the country. He said that this day is a tribute to their extraordinary valor and their unflinching spirit. Their sacrifice will always inspire generations and remain deeply embedded in the history of our country.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrote on X that on the special occasion of Vijay Diwas, the nation salutes the bravery and sacrifice of the armed forces of India. Their unwavering courage and patriotism ensured that our country remained safe. India will never forget their sacrifice and service.

Indian Air Force also saluted the sacrifice of Vijay Diwas's soldiers. The Air Force wrote on X that Vijay Diwas: The Indo-Pak War of 1971 ended on 16 December 1971 with the unconditional surrender by Lieutenant General AAK Niazi. This gave birth to an independent Bangladesh. This historic moment was achieved through a coordinated military effort. In this, the Indian Air Force (IAF) played a quick and decisive role in the 13-day conflict. It is also called the Lightning War.

The tweet said that the Air Force had conducted an intense and deadly air campaign. Fighter aircraft flew more than 2400 offensive missions in the western sector and more than 2000 sorties in the eastern sector. These operations controlled the air in both areas, reducing the adversary's ability to retaliate effectively. The 1971 war was a milestone in Indian military history, which demonstrated the precision, power, and capability of the Air Force to win on the battlefield. The role of the Air Force in achieving this unique victory is a testimony to the importance of air superiority in the present times.
