The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has refuted reports of an ultimatum from the ICC. Recent reports claimed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) had rejected Bangladesh's request to shift their matches outside of India and warned that they would face point deductions if they did so. The BCB has now broken its silence, issuing an official statement completely denying these claims.
BCB receives full support from the ICC
The BCB stated that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has assured them that they will ensure Bangladesh's "full and uninterrupted participation" in the tournament. The board also stated that the ICC is ready to work with them on their security concerns and that their suggestions will be incorporated into the security plan.
The board clarified that the safety and security of the Bangladesh national team are of paramount importance to them and they will not compromise on this.
However, the BCB's statements also indicate that the ICC has not given them any assurance that their matches will be shifted elsewhere.
News of the ICC warning is false.
The BCB has categorically denied and dismissed as baseless the reports that the ICC had issued any ultimatum to Bangladesh. The board stated that there was no such message from the ICC. This statement comes after an online meeting held on Tuesday. Currently, no official statement has been released by the ICC.
