Was Alia Bhatt Supposed to Play Sita in Ranbir's Ramayana? This One Reason Led the Film to Sai Pallavi.

During the recent teaser launch event held in LA, Ranbir Kapoor praised Sai Pallavi for her portrayal of Sita, stating that no one could have been better suited for the role than her. However, long before any official announcement regarding this was made, reports had been circulating that Ranbir Kapoor’s wife—actress Alia Bhatt—was in talks for this role in the big-budget film.

Alia Bhatt Nearly Played the Role of Sita

Although neither Ranbir Kapoor nor Alia Bhatt ever confirmed these reports, they fueled significant speculation across social media platforms. On one occasion at the Mumbai airport, paparazzi even addressed Alia as “Sita Ma’am” and “Sita Maa.” The actress simply responded with a casual “Oh!” and walked past the paparazzi, selecting to ignore their remarks.

Some social media users even speculated that this might have been a publicity stunt orchestrated by the actress. Meanwhile, according to various reports, Alia was unable to take on the film due to scheduling conflicts.

Ranbir Kapoor Praises Sai Pallavi

Now, Ranbir Kapoor has confirmed that Sai Pallavi was indeed the perfect choice for the role. Speaking to the media and fans in LA, the actor remarked, “We all know what a fantastic actor Sai is. You know the immense achievements she has garnered. I remember the very first day I saw her as Sita; I simply looked at Nitesh Sir, and we both realized that we couldn’t have cast anyone better than her.”

About Ramayana

The teaser for the film was launched in India on April 2nd, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. Ramayana: Part 1 will feature an ensemble cast of prominent actors, including Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
