West Bengal: Humayun Kabir—of Babri Masjid fame—delivers a jolt to both TMC and BJP; leads the trends in Naoda.

Posted on 4th May 2026 11:20 am by rohit kumar

Humayun Kabir—who rose to prominence in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district in connection with the Babri Masjid issue—is currently maintaining a lead in the Nowda constituency. He has secured a total of 6,405 votes so far and is ahead by a margin of 2,890 votes.

It is worth noting that he is trying his luck in the electoral arena by contesting under the banner of his own independent party. He founded the Amra Janata Unnayan Party (AUJP) following his split from the TMC. Consequently, he is contesting the elections from both the Rejinagar and Nowda Assembly constituencies.
