
The Yogi government wants a CBI probe under the supervision of the Supreme Court in the alleged gang rape and death case of a Dalit girl in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. In its affidavit filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh said that it wants to investigate the Hathras incident under the supervision of the court. The Yogi government has submitted its affidavit in the Supreme Court before hearing the petition seeking a CBI or SIT investigation under the supervision of the retired judge of the Hathras scandal. The Bench of Chief Justice Justices SA Bobde, Justice AS Bopanna, and Justice V Ramasubramaniam will be heard on this petition filed in the Hathras case.
The Uttar Pradesh government has said in its affidavit that the government is fully committed to a fair investigation to bring out the truth of the incident. The government said that the Supreme Court under its supervision should direct the CBI investigation into the alleged gangrape and death case in Hathras. The government further said that to maintain law and order and avoid violence, the body of the victim was cremated at night. In this affidavit of the UP government, political parties and civil society organizations have been blamed for attempting caste division.
Apart from this, the UP government has stated in point 10 of its affidavit that for other reasons, the victim was cremated at night. According to the affidavit, the Uttar Pradesh government has also mentioned keeping the districts on high alert due to the Babri Masjid case and not allowing the crowd to gather due to Corona in the context of burning the body of the victim at 2.30 pm. It said that because of the sensitivity of the verdict in the Ayodhya-Babri case and the approval of the family in Corona, the victim was cremated at night.

The petition said that the investigation and trial of the case in UP would not be impartial. The role of the Uttar Pradesh Police has been questioned in the petition. The petition mentioned the confrontation with the opposition leaders of the police and the funeral of the victim's body at 2.30 pm. The petition has sought transfer of the trial of Hathras case from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi. The petitioners say that the investigation and trial of the case in UP will not be impartial. Therefore, it should be transferred to Delhi.
Meanwhile, amidst the rapidly changing political developments following the Hathras incident in Uttar Pradesh, the police filed an FIR against unknown people on charges of conspiring caste-based clashes in the district's Chandpa police station, attempts to tarnish the image of the government and spoil the atmosphere. Police allege that these people are involved in a conspiracy to 'burn' Uttar Pradesh on the pretext of Hathras.

Significantly, on September 14, a 19-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by four boys in a village in Hathras district. The girl later died on 29 September at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
