Corona's new variant Omicron has once again created a sensation in the world. Its causes have been confirmed in more than 20 countries. In the case of this new variant, South African scientists say how lethal Omicron is and what effect it will have on people, it is difficult to say at the moment. He said that the new variant of Corona has so far affected mostly young people. Scientists also warn that it is too early to determine whether Omicron will cause only mild illness. He further said that we are gathering more information about this. We will know more about it only after two to three weeks.

He said that some patients have been admitted and all of them are youth, whose age is 40 or less. On the other hand, Michelle Grom, head of public health surveillance and response at NICD, says that most of the victims of the new variant of the coronavirus, Omicron, have been young people. But we have begun to investigate this in older age groups as well. Earlier the National Institute for Communicable Diseases said the daily number of new cases in South Africa had nearly doubled to 8,561 in the past 24 hours. Omicron is by far the dominant strain in the country.

The South African government and scientists announced a new variant of Corona on 25 November. After this WHO named it Omicron. After the detection of the new variant, the US, European Union, Canada, Israel, Australia, and other countries banned travel from many South African countries. At the same time, some countries have banned flights coming from South Africa.
